Youth Fair Success!

Editorial by Erica Roffe/Films by Jason Inge

Bedford College students were among a number of young people who took part in Bedford’s first Youth Fair, aiming to give young creative entrepreneurs their first taste of business.  The youth market was organised by Uprising group, Revitalise and supported by the Bedford Portas Pilot team. Said Revitalise’s Jason Inge: ‘The success of this event has inspired us to take our idea forward and to run more events in the future which will give more young Bedfordians an opportunity to set up their own stalls and gain fantastic business experience.

A number of the stallholders who took part in our first event are now looking to develop their business ideas and set up permanent market stalls in Bedford; which can only good for the future of our town.”

Sayyida and Jameela were effusive in their praise for the event: “It was a truly inspiring experience! Our customers said that they found our range of Caribbean foods exciting. A big thanks to Revitalise for the opportunity.”  Lisa Hau from the A Sweet Favour said, “There was lots of positive energy buzzing around and it made me think about running a stall full time.”

Bedford College students Jade Hibbert, Francesca Glos and Luisa Mirto were also interviewed by Jason Inge to talk about their experience at the Youth Fair:
